It wasn’t to be a dream weekend for Oliver in Germany. Firstly MHS King Joules was withdrawn before the competition started, having kicked himself – it only seems minor but he’s too good a horse to risk in any way.

Black Tie then got off to a great start, lying in 9th place after dressage with a score of 43.0 and then jumping clear inside the time across country to move up to 7th. Unfortunately the final showjumping phase was not a great success, and Oliver plummeted down to 18th place.
