Andrew CawthrayAndrew was eventing himself when he first met Oliver, back at the start of 2006. He handed over the reins to Waterview that summer – the horse on which Oliver won his first ever Three Day Event (Houghton CCI2*, 2008).

Why eventing? I’m not a typical owner, and my partnership with Oliver is very much a business arrangement. I do go and see my horses at the big events, and I love Gatcombe – it’s the result of a year’s work – but decisions about buying and selling horses are down to Oliver. I only stay in the sport to support him.

Why Oliver? He’s one of the most hard working individuals I have ever met. He’s determined, gritty and a good loser with great resolve and tenacity. If he wasn’t competing he’d do well in business. It works because we trust each other implicitly.
