Normal service resumes…

Hi All,

I’m just back at the yard after a brilliant time at Zara Philllips wedding – there were lots of eventing friends there, and it was an incredible party. Zara looked absolutely stunning. But it’s now back to work, preparing for The Festival of British Eventing this weekend….

Since my last newsletter I’ve been very busy – it’s hard to remember what order things happened, but I have been to Poland, where Arctic Mouse came 3rd in the CCI** really impressing me with the way he jumped, and to Germany where I had an unintended dip in the water, as did Neo. That’s horses – but two falls in a week was not what I was hoping for – although it did remind me of the benefits of my Point 2 jacket! Luckily Pepper Anne gave me a great ride in the Hickstead Eventers Grand Prix last week – but for the final rail down we would have finished 2nd but as it is had to settle for 4th.

Nina Barbour and I have been to look at stallions and studs in both Germany and Spain – it’s really helpful to see how other people do things, and work at Harthill is coming on quickly with everything on schedule. The Townend Online trade stand has also been out and about – I wasn’t at the new Cholmondeley event last weekend but I gather business was good on the stand and the team there enjoyed themselves. Don’t forget to keep your eyes open for it when you are out and about.

Normality is resuming with Gatcombe only a few days away now. I’ve just had a couple of days of fantastic show jump training with Luiz Alvarez Cervera – he’s a brilliant trainer with some really effective exercises. The horses and I all benefited from his expertise. Let’s just hope that the hard work pays off with some good results at the weekend. I must be due a bit more luck!

Keep your fingers crossed for me, and don’t forget to say Hi if you are there…

Oliver
