The cross country had been beefed up this year and caused its share of problems. Oliver placed third in a Novice section on a new ride, Angela Hislop’s Some Spring. He then survived a ‘moment’ when his air jacket went off as the Lawton’s Shearwater Touchingwood used up a life at the first water – they went on to finish 5th in an Intermdiate section. Nina Barbour’s Douglas jumped a lovely double clear for 9th in the OI with Skyhills Cavalier three places higher up the leaderboard.
