Oliver’s sole ride at this year’s Blenheim International was Paul & Diana Ridgeon’s Ulises, who recently finished fifth in the British Eventing Open Championships.
The pair put in a good dressage performance to score 28.0 and lie in 4th place. They followed this with a speedy clear across country to move up to 3rd.
After their round Oliver said: “He’s very fast and has endless gallop, like [half-brother] Armada – he made it feel very easy; he could have gone round twice. If he comes out of this well, he’ll be ready to step up to CCI4* next spring.”
Unfortunately the showjumping proved their undoing, and with 12 penalties to add they dropped to 19th place.
